Summer has arrived with a vengeance!  Temperatures over the next few days are expected to reach triple digits.

The Los Angeles Department of Public Health is reminding everyone to take precautions when dealing with the heat, especially by individuals who participate in outdoor activities, older adults, caretakers of infants and children, and those sensitive to the heat.

Outdoor activities should be scheduled for very early or very late in the day in order to limit the amount of time spent in the sun and heat.

If you have plans to visit your family memorial over the next few days, it’s highly recommended to do your visiting early in the morning. If you happen to be visiting us, our parks open at 8 am.

In the Los Angeles area, there are several Cooling Centers available for people to take advantage of if they need a place to stay out of the heat. For a list of Cooling Centers, as well as  information on heat-related illnesses and prevention, please visit the Public Health website at http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov, or call the LA County Information line at 2-1-1.

Stay cool out there!
