For many of us, the holiday season is a time where we tend to eat a little more than we normally do, often indulging in the many treats and less-than-healthy, but oh so tasty offerings that are part of the celebrations.  After all this eating, we may have put on a few pounds that weren’t there pre-Thanksgiving.  We may feel a bit sluggish, tired, or not quite ourselves.

This  can have an affect our day to day lives. It is compounded if we are experiencing some stress in life due to a health condition, job pressures, family situation, or if we’re grieving. We can feel more aches and pains, and experience more headaches and upset stomachs.

A quote attributed to Buddha states, «Your body is precious. It is your vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care.» This is good advice anytime, but especially so when we’re under additional pressures in life.

Simple life changes such as drinking plenty of water, walking 10 to 30 minutes a day, making good food choices, resting during the day, and getting enough sleep will make a big difference in both your physical and mental being.

If you’ve made a New Year’s resolution to eat better and exercise, we encourage you to stick with it. Your hard work and diligence will pay off.
