As a nation, the United States shows its gratitude to  the men and women who have served our country for the sake of our freedom and way of life. In May, we observe Memorial Day, and in November, it’s Veterans Day.  What’s the difference between the two holidays?

The key difference is that Memorial Day is dedicated to remembering all military personnel who sacrificed their lives for our country,  while Veterans Day is dedicated to honor all those military personnel who served and are still alive.

According to the Census Bureau, there are more than 22 million veterans in the US, with over  2 million living in California alone. Without a doubt, almost everyone reading this knows or is related to a veteran.

Veterans sacrificed their time and safety to serve our nation and protect our precious freedom. We are all truly thankful. As an organization, one way Forest Lawn honors our veterans is by hosting an annual Veterans Day Celebration. We invite you to join us on Monday, Nov. 11 from 11 am to 1 pm at Hollywood Hills. This family friendly event will feature patriotic arts and crafts, children’s face painting and balloon art, free Dunkin Donuts coffee and donuts, a flyover, free lapel pins, patriotic music, speeches and much more. One of the highlights will be a special “Marching through History” presentation with costumed actors and historical displays.

Admission and parking are free. You won’t want to miss it! For more information, please visit www.ForestLawn.com or call 1-888-204-3131.
