Forest Lawn Museum is excited to host CARA de VAGO by artist Fabian Debora. The exhibition is curated by Vida Patricia Rodriguez, Founder & Creative Director at FYT Branding. The exhibition opens at 2 PM on Saturday, March 2, and runs through Sunday, March 17.

CARA de VAGO is a new series of thirteen works by Debora, who audaciously has formed a kinship to Caravaggio, the 17th-century artist whose life trajectory extended beyond stylistic parallels.

The groundbreaking exhibit is supported by Collaborations in History, Art, Religion and Music (CHARM), an initiative at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences that brings together faculty, staff, and students to partner on research projects and community events on and beyond campus.

Led by USC Dornsife Professor of Art History Lisa Pon, Ph.D., CHARM was founded in 2022 with support from the USC Office of Research Collaboration Fund and the Office of the Provost. Baroque art specialist and USC Dornsife Professor Hector Reyes, Ph.D., leads CHARM’s partnership with Debora.

Debora spent much of his childhood in Boyle Heights and is a former gang member who has overcome battles with poverty, drug addiction, and incarceration. He has successfully channeled his creative energy into creating public art and arts education programs in East Los Angeles.
