The Great Mausoleum at 100

On May 2, 1920, Forest Lawn dedicated the Great Mausoleum. On May 2, 2020, we recognize the centennial of this monumental building. Construction began in 1917 and only one level was complete at the dedication ceremony. The building now has 11 terraces, dozens of sculptures, and more than 100 stained glass windows. It has endured through the Great Depression, World War II, and into the 21st century. Even in the difficult times that we’re currently experiencing, we look forward to another hundred years of history with the Great Mausoleum.
