Our great nation will turn 246 years old on July 4. For such a historically young country, America has achieved many remarkable things despite many trials, tribulations, and struggles. Of our many legacies, the cause and hope of freedom remain one of our most sacred and desired values here at home and around the world.

Millions of Americans will celebrate this day with backyard barbeques, picnics, pool parties, trips to the park or beach, and fireworks shows. Those who will be visiting their family memorials at several Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks will find patriotic inspiration in artwork such as the “Birth of Liberty” Mosaic, Old North Church, and Washington Monument at Hollywood Hills; the “Court of Liberty” at Glendale; the “Church of the Hills” at Covina Hills; and the “Church of Our Fathers” and Heritage Mausoleum at Cypress.  These are just some of the examples of art and architecture at our parks that honor those who were instrumental in the creation of our country and who charted a new course in human history for the personal freedoms of all.

As we approach the 4^th of July holiday, may we all reflect on the precious freedoms we have and enjoy, and remember all those who worked, fought, and served so that we may live our lives in the manner we choose.
