Forest Lawn Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) Usage and Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 12, 2026

Forest Lawn (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses Automated License Plate Recognition (“ALPR”) technology, which is a system of mobile or fixed cameras and associated software that captures and processes a vehicle’s license plate information (“ALPR System”). Our ALPR System is installed at park entrances and exits of our facilities.

1. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy at any time, in which case we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy, and any changes will be effective as of that date. If we make material changes to this policy, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you in accordance with applicable laws.

2. Collection and Use of Information

The following data may be collected using our ALPR System (collectively, “ALPR Data”):

  • License plate numbers and license plate state;
  • Photographic images of vehicles (and surroundings); and
  • Date, time, and geographic location associated with each of the categories of data listed above.

3. Purpose

ALPR Data may be accessed and used for the following purposes:

  • To enhance public safety and security, including by investigating incidents such as theft, vandalism, or trespassing;
  • To manage parking operations and enforce parking policies; and
  • To cooperate with law enforcement agencies, government requests, subpoenas, court orders, or valid legal process.

4. Authorized Parties

Access to ALPR Data is limited to the following parties (collectively, “Authorized Users”):

  • Security and facility management personnel;
  • Operations Department Executive personnel;
  • Legal Department; and
  • Security Director/Security Manager or those authorized by the Security Director.

Before accessing ALPR Data, Authorized Users receive guidelines regarding confidentiality and information security expectations.

5. Data Retention

ALPR Data is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and administer memberships and facility access, prevent misuse, support billing or disputes, provide customer support, maintain safety and security, comply with legal obligations (including in connection with active investigations and legal proceedings), and protect our rights and interests. To determine if and when to destroy retained ALPR Data, we periodically assess whether the ALPR Data remains reasonably necessary for these purposes or is subject to a legal obligation, active investigation, legal proceeding, or other preservation requirement. When ALPR Data is no longer reasonably necessary for such purposes and is not subject to a preservation requirement, we securely destroy it by deleting or anonymizing the ALPR Data.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, lease, or otherwise commercially distribute ALPR Data. ALPR Data may be shared with third parties in limited circumstances, including:

  • To law enforcement or other governmental authorities in response to lawful requests, to comply with legal process, or in other cases if we believe the disclosure is required or appropriate to comply with legal or regulatory requirements;
  • To service providers or other vendors in connection with system operation and maintenance services, subject to our confidentiality agreements with such providers;
  • In the event of an asset sale, merger, acquisition, or other business transaction, to third parties in connection with or anticipation of such transaction.

7. Data Security

We have implemented commercially reasonable security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure. However, despite our efforts to protect your information, no security measures are impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee “perfect security.” We also conduct periodic audits of the ALPR System to review our security measures and examine whether ALPR Data is collected and used in compliance with our policies and applicable laws.

8. Data Accuracy and Correction

We conduct regular testing and review of ALPR Data for accuracy. Any concerns regarding the accuracy of ALPR Data may be submitted using the contact information below.

9. Official Custodian

The official custodian and owner of ALPR Data and our ALPR System is the Director of Security.
