Peace of mind is attained not by ignoring problems, but by solving them. – Raymond Hull

Peace of mind. Who doesn’t want it?  Merriam Webster dictionary defines peace of mind as “a feeling of being safe or protected.” It’s a mental state of calmness or tranquility.

In today’s world with a pandemic still going on, inflation making an unwelcome reappearance, conflicts in parts of the world, and day-to-day living issues, peace of mind can be something that we think is out of our reach. What we would give to just have no worries in our lives!

Unfortunately, life is not without challenges and the world is not always a safe place. We can engage in activities to help our state of mind; things like breathing, meditating, praying, being mindful, thinking positive, and the like. But we will never be able to control everything that is happening around us. What we can do is focus on the things that are within our control.

That is one reason why we at Forest Lawn are proponents of planning ahead for the things we can control. Such as saving up for a major purchase like a house or car. Putting aside money for education. Writing a will and getting life insurance.  And planning your memorial service and purchasing memorial property ahead of time. These are things that can be done without pressure or pressing circumstances and will give you peace of mind knowing that you’ve done what you can to provide for your family.

Life will always present challenges for sure. But working on a positive frame of mind and taking care of the things we can go a long way towards bringing us peace of mind.
